Prepare your PE wrapping trial.
Agree what to wrap, what the finished bundle should look like, and what evidence both sides will review.
This guide prepares a review; it does not report a completed machine trial. Start with the PE wrapping input guide for bundle dimensions, film-roll information and configuration boundaries. Here, turn those inputs into an agreed trial scope and traceable records. There are no default pass limits or implied acceptance approvals.
Bring representative, identified bundles
Agree the job mix and sample count before arranging a trial. Include the production conditions that matter to your project, not just an easy-to-wrap demonstration bundle. Identify minimum, typical and maximum requested jobs separately; successful wrapping of one sample does not approve the whole range.
- Bundle ID: panel type, quantity, alignment, surface finish and actual complete-bundle length, width, height and weight.
- Travelling envelope: include supports, edge protectors, end covers and protrusions. Mark measured, estimated and unknown values.
- Starting condition: photograph existing surface marks, loose panels, damaged edges and support positions before wrapping.
- Materials: identify the film and protection materials by supplier, grade and batch. Record the version used for each run.
Send a labelled end view and support sketch alongside the samples. Do not substitute the gantry’s single-panel lifting load for the complete bundle weight. Physical fit remains subject to the wrapper’s usable passage and the agreed configuration.
Record the agreed passage before a trial
The 1,200 × 1,200 mm package section is a documented configuration, not a verified maximum usable aperture. The 1,200 mm conveying surface height is a conveyor-level value; confirm its measurement datum, not bundle height. Overall machine width/height of 2,500 / 2,600 mm are external dimensions, not package clearance. A separate maximum usable package height is not confirmed in the supplied brief; request the actual passage drawing for the complete bundle, including supports and protection.
Record the bundle width and total travelling height separately from the agreed usable-passage dimensions and conveyor level. For a 1,250 mm requested height, the 50 mm difference from the documented 1,200 mm package height remains unresolved. Agree a revised configuration or a lower bundle target before arranging the relevant trial; a video or an upstream 2.5 m stacking proposal is not fit confirmation.
Describe the finish before judging it
Replace “good wrapping” with visible, agreed requirements. Use annotated reference photos or a sample approved by both parties. Keep packaging appearance, included machine functions and transport protection as separate questions.
| Requirement | What to record |
|---|---|
| Side coverage & overlap | Agreed pattern, locations to inspect and labelled photos of the observed finish. |
| Film start, finish & ends | What is covered, any exposed ends and the included manual or automatic operations. |
| Panel surfaces & edges | Before/after views of the same areas; distinguish pre-existing marks from changes. |
| Supports & alignment | Actual positions and observed movement; agree the inspection method and allowed condition. |
The supplied brief does not establish automatic film clamping, cutting, sealing or roll change. Confirm each requested function in the written scope. PE side wrapping alone is not a claim of waterproofing, outdoor-storage suitability or load restraint.
Keep each run traceable
Assign a run ID before starting. Record the sample ID, date, location, participants, configuration revision and film identification. Ask the qualified operator to record the settings actually used, including the available ring-speed, conveyor-speed, overlap and film-tension references. Preserve the units and control labels; this guide does not prescribe settings.
FROMM’s orbital wrapping documentation lists speed, film tension and conveyor options separately. These are useful record categories—not transferred specifications or proof that our machine includes the same options.
- Run IDSample + setup revision
- Evidence filesPhotos + continuous video
- ReviewObserved result + open issues
If output is part of the agreed trial, define the timing start and finish points. Record manual film handling, stops, retries, spacing and finished-bundle removal. Do not turn conveyor speed into an accepted bundles-per-hour figure. Keep a continuous video of the agreed sequence, with any edited summary identified as such.
A material, support or setup change needs a new run ID. A repeated result should be linked to its own evidence, not merged into the earlier record.
Separate wrapper trials from linked-line trials
A standalone wrapping demonstration does not verify the full stacking-and-wrapping interface. For a linked line, agree which upstream and downstream equipment will be present, how the completed bundle arrives, who handles manual tasks and how the wrapped bundle leaves.
Write down the interface scope
- Bundle-ready and transfer conditions, including the actual arrival and removal methods.
- Conveyor direction, support positions and the agreed interface drawing revision.
- Included controls and responsibilities; list interfaces absent from the trial.
- Evidence to collect at each handover, plus any site-only checks still outstanding.
The supplier’s qualified personnel must arrange trials under the applicable operating and safeguarding procedures. This page is not an operating instruction or safety-validation protocol. A video cannot, by itself, establish control or safeguarding performance.
Review the stacking and PE wrapping concept alongside the PE wrapping product. Proposed stacking height must not be treated as the wrapper’s confirmed working height.
Prepare the acceptance evidence pack
Before the trial, assign each requirement an ID and agree the method, conditions, criterion and reviewer. Afterward, attach the observed result and evidence filenames. Leave unagreed or untested items clearly marked; a blank field is not a pass.
| Record | Contents |
|---|---|
| Agreed scope | Quotation/configuration revision, sample list, included functions and excluded checks. |
| Requirement & method | Criterion agreed by the parties, measurement method, conditions and instrument references where needed. |
| Result & evidence | Actual observation, run ID, photos/video, timing record where agreed and reviewer’s assessment. |
| Open issues | Issue owner, required action and agreed repeat-trial or site-check scope. |
| Review outcome | Named reviewers, date and recorded decision. Until reviewed, label the record “Not reviewed”. |
Appearance review is not transit certification
ISTA’s packaging testing guidance connects test selection to actual distribution conditions and packaged-product objectives. If transport performance matters, obtain appropriate advice for the complete package. This page selects no ISTA procedure and claims no CSM laboratory certification or completed transit test.
Agree factory-trial, site-commissioning and contractual acceptance responsibilities separately. Record exceptions explicitly; this guide does not replace the purchase agreement or authorize final acceptance.

Trial preparation questions
Is the trial record an acceptance certificate?
No. It is a blank preparation and evidence sheet. Acceptance requires the agreed criteria, recorded results and approval by the designated parties; an unfilled or unreviewed field is not a pass.
How many sample bundles should we prepare?
Agree the sample count and job mix with the supplier. Use representative production bundles and identify the requested range; this guide does not prescribe a count or approve every size.
Does a good-looking wrap prove transport protection?
No. Visual finish review does not establish weatherproofing, load restraint or transport performance. Define the distribution conditions and obtain appropriate packaging-test advice separately.
Can conveyor speed prove packaging output?
No. Agree the measured cycle boundaries and include film start and finish, manual tasks, stops, bundle spacing and removal time. Conveyor speed alone is not a finished-bundle acceptance rate.
Does automatic mode confirm film cutting or sealing?
No. The existing equipment brief does not establish automatic clamping, cutting, sealing or roll change. Confirm each included function and any manual task in the written trial scope.
What if film, supports or bundle construction changes?
Create a new run ID and record the changed revision. Review whether the previous result still applies and agree the repeat-trial scope; do not silently reuse an earlier approval.
