Automated Welding: Acceptance Evidence Preparation

Prepare drawings, procedure references, representative samples and evidence responsibilities before agreeing an automated welding machine acceptance protocol.

What should be prepared before discussing acceptance?

Prepare a controlled list of the machine configuration, workpiece drawings, applicable procedure references, representative samples and the people responsible for agreeing evidence. Machine function, weld quality and site handover are different questions; record which documents address each one.

This page is a document-preparation aid for W01 cleat welding and W02 tie-rod equipment. It is not a weld inspection instruction, acceptance standard, qualification method, safety test or authority to release a machine or welded product. Those decisions belong to the responsible project personnel and the approved project documents.

Connect the references without assuming coverage

Conceptual document relationships only—not actual sample records, inspection instructions or acceptance criteria. A link between references does not establish that evidence is sufficient or that a part or machine has passed. Keep unavailable references and unrepresented variants open for the responsible reviewers.

Drawing → sample → evidence reference

Record the actual drawing revision and sample identity before linking relevant evidence references. Identify what each reference covers; do not turn this preparation map into a fabricated test record.

Represented is not the same as approved

List represented and unrepresented ordered variants separately. A missing sample or evidence reference remains an open item; the responsible reviewer determines whether further evidence is needed.

Which documents and reviewers should be identified?

Document and responsibility preparation
RecordWhat to identifyResponsible-party question
Ordered machineConfiguration; tooling; selected power-source package; drawing and programme references.Who confirms that the delivered scope matches the agreed order?
Workpiece baselineAssembly and component drawings; material references; intended part variants.Who controls the approved drawing revisions and sample identity?
Welding procedureRelevant procedure reference and its scope where applicable.Who confirms the appropriate procedure and any qualification requirements?

Machine demonstrationAgreed sequence; timing boundaries; representative inputs; interruptions to record.Who agrees what a demonstration can and cannot establish?
HandoverMachine-specific manuals; training record; parts list; open questions and action owners.Who confirms documentation completeness and the remaining site tasks?

A WPS sets out welding variables; supporting qualification documents serve a different purpose. TWI's overview explains these roles. This page does not select a standard, edition, test method or approval route for your application.

How should the sample scope be recorded?

Identify each sample by drawing revision, material and thickness information, component arrangement and intended process scope. List the ordered variants that are represented and those that are not. Record who will decide whether additional evidence is needed for an unrepresented case.

Do not treat a convenient sample or a video of another part as proof for every ordered assembly. A missing sample should remain an open item rather than being silently assumed to be covered.

What should a performance discussion define?

Define the counted output, timing start and finish events, product mix and interruptions. Distinguish linear weld travel speed from completed assemblies per hour. Record loading, part preparation and unloading assumptions before any representative run is agreed.

These are measurement questions, not a prescribed test procedure. There are no default sample counts, minimum test durations, acceptable defect limits or guaranteed output values in this guide.

Keep open items visible through handover

Use the preparation sheet's action, owner, evidence-needed and due-date fields to organise unresolved questions. Keep actual reports and the approved acceptance protocol separate from the blank sheet.

Conceptual action record—not a sign-off route

Identify who owns the missing information and which reference is still needed. Documentation completeness, quality evaluation and machine or product release remain separate questions for the responsible personnel.

Use the blank sheet to identify document references, responsible reviewers, evidence still needed and unresolved questions. It contains no automatic pass result or sign-off. Keep the agreed acceptance protocol and actual reports separate from this preparation sheet.

Common evidence preparation questions

Does a successful machine demonstration qualify the weld?

It does not establish that by itself. The responsible project personnel must determine what the demonstration and the required supporting evidence cover.

Can a generic checklist replace the project's criteria?

No. The approved project documents govern. This sheet only helps organise information before those requirements are agreed.

What needs clarification for W02 welding-only equipment?

The supplied presentation contains different welding-only power-source packages. Ask for the selected package in the final proposal; see the disclosed source issue on the tie-rod product page. No rating is selected here by inference.

Choose the matching machine for your document discussion

This preparation guide covers both documented welding equipment families. Choose the actual project scope below; selecting a product in the enquiry does not confirm evidence sufficiency or acceptance.

The website enquiry form does not accept attachments. After the initial enquiry, send authorised drawings and document references to tony.buy@gmail.com; do not upload confidential project information without permission.

Discuss the actual assembly and process scope

Review the matching machine specification, then send your workpiece drawings and the preparation information. Use a preliminary enquiry for unresolved items; the final configuration is agreed against the actual project.
